Another North of the Border Nightmare for the Yankees
The Yankees just wrapped up another embarrassing trip to Toronto, and frankly, they might be the most welcomed Americans in Canada lately — at least for the Blue Jays. Losers of 6 of their last 7 games at Rogers Centre in the past few weeks, the Yankees look anything but contenders.
Sure, Las Vegas still believes in the Bronx Bombers, but the fans? Not so much.
This recent stretch has been defined by sloppy, uninspired baseball:
- Poor starting pitching
- A feast-or-famine offense
- Head-scratching baserunning
- Defense that wouldn’t pass in Little League
It’s a mess. And it needs fixing — fast.
🛠️ How Do You Fix It?
Step 1: Stay out of Canada.
Jokes aside, barring a playoff matchup, the Yankees are done with Toronto for 2025 — so that’s one problem off the board.
Step 2: Brian Cashman needs to act — again.
He has a history of making moves in July. But this year, rival GMs smell blood. The Yankees have obvious holes and limited trade leverage unless they start raiding the farm system, which has finally started to rebound. That’s a tightrope Cashman must walk carefully.
🧩 What Do They Need?
✅ Starting Pitching:
The injuries to Cole and Schmidt were tough, but injuries are part of the game. Fried and Rodon have been carrying the team, but they can’t carry the rotation alone.
✅ Bullpen Reinforcements:
The bullpen has leaked oil since June. Too many late leads are evaporating — something playoff teams simply can’t afford.
✅ A Real Third Baseman:
This has been a request since A-Rod left the team.
⏳ Still Time to Right the Ship
Baseball is a marathon — not a sprint. The Yankees have about 60 games left, with nearly half coming against teams below .500, including:
- 7 vs. the White Sox
- 7 vs the Orioles
- 6 vs. the Twins
- 3 vs. the Nationals
- 3 vs. the Marlins
⚾ The Bottom Line
The Yankees don’t need a miracle. But they do need urgency. They need to clean up the fundamentals, play with some edge, and stop getting pushed around by teams like Toronto.
This team still has the talent to contend — but the clock is ticking.
